Window doesn't roll up easily

'73 C20, manual windows. In order to not feel like I'll break the handle I have to pull up on the window when rolling it up. Is there something specific that's likely the problem? I'd like to be able to close it more easily.

Re: Window doesn't roll up easily

It could be several things.
1) your regulator itself is seized up, in which the wd40 or pb blaster will help.
2) it could be the runchannel rubber is dry rotted and pieces of it have gotten wedged up in the channel causing the window not to go up easily.
3) it could be the window is no longer in the rubber, it could be running up between the rubber runchannel and the sash. I have seen this happen.

The best thing to do, is to take the liner off, so you can look around on the inside while rolling the window up & down to see what is causing the friction.

Re: Window doesn't roll up easily

Mine was the same when I got the truck. I simply removed the door panel and lubed everything that rolls or slides. I probably need a new regulator, but the window rolls up much easier than before.

Re: Window doesn't roll up easily

Thanks. I don't quite see why it's called a regulator...

My window certainly isn't as solid as it should be, so I suspect the channel has problems. Is the LMC stuff any good?

Its just called that. It's either a power regulator or manual regulator.

The rubber, if you can't find OEM, then Precision is good.

It regulates the window position.

Re: Window doesn't roll up easily

I think you will find the problem easily once you get the door panel off. Something must have broke or came loose. I have one that has been that way for a few years, just never got around to fixing it yet.

Re: Window doesn't roll up easily

Anyone have a link to a walkthrough? I've never even pulled a door panel before.
