Your RARE option choice?
-
Hi guys - I have read lots of threads about what options are the rarest in 67-72 trucks and I wondered.... if you could pick one for free in your truck--- what would you pick? Tachometer? Tow hooks? aux battery? speed warning speedometer? shoulder belts? and why would you choose it? Do you think some of the "rare" options are over rated? Also with the rapid increase in interest and price jumps -- I think it would be fun to see what people from different parts of the country would speculate on what the items would sell for in their area. Assuming very good to near mint condition. I can't believe I forgot the 2 obvious choices of buddy buckets and am/fm radio! Last edited by Neeko72; 02-29-2016 at 09:18 PM. Reason: forgot 2 choices! |

I would edit the poll to include the AM/FM radio and buddy buckets but I don't think its possible once the poll is started |

Nothing I can think of outside a coolant expansion tank.

Re: Your RARE option choice?
This is easy ...A '67 short bed truck with power steering
The '67 being the first year of the body style and the last year small rear window and slope nose along with the long list of 1 year only parts makes it the rarest of them all .

Re: Your RARE option choice?
Those GM accessories are cool. Rear tow hooks are one I never see. I have a set for the '72. These accessories have GM part#s. They are more rare than extreme bend tow hooks.
The rarest factory option that I loved was front posi. I searched out the rare and unusual for years. The factory front (and rear) posi were in a '71 Custom/10 SWB 292 4spd. It had buckets, tilt, AM/FM, tach, manual throttle, wood floor, tow hooks, 10.00-16.5s (8.25 wheels), chrome bumpers, aux. battery, and HD radiator. It had GM rear tow hooks The '72 K/20 Custom Deluxe Custom Camper Highlander 4spd was super rare. A/C, tach, tilt, manual throttle, No-Spin, aux. tank, aux. battery tool & stowage, tow hooks, and 10.00-16.5s, and HD radiator. It had GM bumper guards engine heater, and ventshades.

Re: Your RARE option choice?
My 72 C30 don't have any of those but I'm installing shoulder belts. No power steering, no radio, no tach, no A/C, no two hooks and no aux bat.

Re: Your RARE option choice?
...well my choice would be the 'other' button, but the option is perhaps not that rare but it would probably be the 402BB.
That would be nice to have and is perhaps the most difficult and expensive to put in/on the truck. Other highly desireable choices for me would be; -yep, the shoulder belts (popular choice) -3:73 posi Apart from those....the option list starts to fade out a bit for me. With all that said I love my truck and it's unlikely I will pursue those options listed above except for keeping and eye out for the shoulder belts. All Good Coley

Re: Your RARE option choice?
Definitely bucket seats and console. Of course the tilt, am/fm, and dealer installed cruise are nice too.

Re: Your RARE option choice?
I chose from your list the shoulder belt option. I'm very fortunate to have a 67 long box fleet side CST ( buddy buckets) Speed Warning, 350 THM, PS,PB, 327ci with vintage Sun tachometer. AM radio which sucks so I have a wireless blue tooth speaker that plays from my phone.

Re: Your RARE option choice?
My '71 Cheyenne Super has the following: 402, A.C., 4-speed, tach and gauges, sliding rear window, cargo light, bumper guards, door edge guards, in bed tire carrier, factory installed aux. fuel tank, coil springs rear, overload springs. So far I have gathered up a factory floor shift tilt, bucket seats with console (got them from Tim of Truck Seats) dual batterey tray, plus original core support set up for it, tool storage box. I also have a van A.M. F.M. the closest I could come up with. Also have a No-Spin unit in a leave spring Dana-60 that I might swap in to my coil spring Dana-60. Still like to find factory shoulder belts.
