Re: 1950 chevy truck roof to windshield.

The moderators will smack you in a minute or two because you can't buy or sell or post a part wanted thread unless you are a paid subscribing member.

That said I haven't seen all that many rusted out in that area.

71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

As rotted as that is you will have internal structure rot down the pillars, I've don't some like that and always the internal structure is gone or almost gone. If you get that used get it down to the cowl and back midway on the roof.

this may help get you through it

Re: 1950 chevy truck roof to windshield.

I'd follow along with what DW said and start wire brushing or flap wheeling the posts until I figured out how far down I had to go to get to solid metal.

you are going to have to find a donor cab locally most likely as shipping would eat you up. I think I would get a whole roof cut off as far down on the posts in front as I coud and through the middle of the back window and replace the whole roof in the same manner that a guy would when he chopped a truck but not chop it. It's going to be a lot easier to weld and work those panels between the door and window on each side than work that strip across the top to get it right.

Re: 1950 chevy truck roof to windshield.

Thanks looking for this kind of feed back I was doubting I could buy a piece. It really isn't that bad down the posts. I know I can buy the support on the inside. It really rotted there mainly due to windshield gasket was missing just in that spot. Thanks again all the help appreciated.
