SM-420 Fluid Temp Gauge? Generic Aux. Gauge ?s
I have a "spare" opening in a new gauge bracket that I just built and was thinking of adding a transmission fluid temp gauge. Would this even be possible without adding a connection point to the transmission? I will be deleting the ammeter, installing a voltmeter in its place and will also be running an oil pressure gauge and vaccuum gauge. Any other ideas for a "4th" gauge?
If interested, pics of the gauge bracket are in my build thread (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=698082).

There are no products out there that offer a temperature gauge that doesn't require some sort of physical connection to your transmission. The wireless technology is out there but it seems no one is using it yet. The easiest way, without compromising the structural integrity of your transmission, would be to purchase an aftermarket aluminum PTO blank off plate and make your connection at the lowest point possible. That should give you the most accurate reading.

Found one from NorthWest Fab that already has a hole drilled and tapped.
http://www.northwestfab.com/NP203205...over_p_47.html Mount it upside down and make sure the probe end doesn't hit the gears and you are good to go. |
