Re: Do you wave?

One thing is for certain. If someone waves at me, I always wave back.

Yep, it's different in the country, most people acknowledge one another when passing or when near to one another standing, sitting, whatever. I noticed a long time ago, when in the suburbs or city many people find a sudden need to check out their shoes at just the point they could have simply given a smile. That gets on my nerves so bad I've been known to say as we pass, "Nice shoes". On my way out of a store, I've held the door for people coming in and they just walk right through without looking or saying anything. Do they think I'm just a door man doing my job? The urge is to give them a push on the butt with my boot to help speed them along on their very important way, or just slam the door on them. It is so inhuman the way they act. It's less than doing nothing. I feel sorry for them. They are social retards.

I can't believe people who get up to the cashier, the cashier asks how they are, and all they say is "Give me a pack of Marlboros" or "$20 on pump 3". C'mon people! That ain't livin'

Re: Do you wave?

I work at a small university and I wave and or speak to everyone I come in contact with and a lot of our students are from the city and other countries and they are not used to this but they come around .Some of our students have social disabilities and I go out of my way to say hello to them and offer encouragement as they have few if any friends and they will finally wave back after a while .Sometimes a wave may mean more than we realize to people .

Re: Do you wave?

There is a culture of waving in this rural area. When young, we were taught it was rude to not wave. This is because of the small population you knew everyone that went by.

It is pretty much the same today though with better roads there are more "outsiders" just passing through that don't wave.

And when out driving around I do get more waves in a truck than in a car.

Re: Do you wave?

It's funny the different answers You get from different areas. Where I'm from, we wave at most everybody, mainly because I know them. My wife is from Omaha/council bluffs and she didn't know why I was waving at people when I was up there. It's a habit and generAl courtesy. She's a waver now too but always,Always wave at a classic, especially if it's another truck like ours

Re: Do you wave?

Here in rural iowa, I wave at everyone. Most.. wave back. I work in desmoines, it's a waste of time waving, everybody's in a big damn hurry, no time to wave.
Funny though, I drive 125 mi or so a day, so I used to drive a beater Honda civic for milage, not even the locals would wave, same ones that would break their arms waving if I was in either truck.
Thought I was some punk kid I guess..lol

Re: Do you wave?

I use to wave. but the last time I waved, I got blood all over my nice, clean denim shirt.

Seems I forgot to take my finger out of my nose first and damn near tore my nostril off. Had to stick one of the wife's torpedo's in my nose to stop the bleeding.

By the time I got back home, the damn torpedo had swollen up into my sinuses. Had to go to the ER with a string hanging out my nose and choking on blood filled cotton.

Doc took one look at me and said: "You was wav'in, weren't you?" I says, "Yup."

Doc tells the wife to grab me around the waist and hold tight. He takes hold of the string and yanks with both hands. After several minutes of yank'in, he finally gets the torpedo out and says, "either stop wav'in or switch to man hole covers."

So the next time you pass me, you will know why I don't wave no more. It's too damn hard to see where I am go'in with a man hole cover across my face.

Re: Do you wave?

Just rock your head back, giving the supercool chin raise. I do that on people I want to acknowledge that I either have bad blood with or I know they are up to no good to give an, "I see you. Don't even try", type of greeting. Basically, I acknowledge about everyone in one way or another. That's why I avoid interstates

Re: Do you wave?

When I'm driving I'm not paying any attention to what people are doing inside their vehicle. Don't care, don't need to know, not my business. So maybe people are always waving at me and think I'm a jerk for not waving back, I'll never know lol.
