16.5 tire buying help

Hi I am looking for 16.5 tires for my 1970 Chevy k/20 pickup. I'm looking for something good on and off road. I don't want anything 33s and over. Please help I need tires as soon as possible. If you could put the link in your comment that would be a big help thanks Collin.

I know this isn't the answer your looking for but the 16.5 tire line is drying up. I work for Bfgoodrich and we quit building them except for the military humvees 2 years ago.

Several choices. STA Super Traxion is a great off road tire, but not a radial - more for restos or period correct look (1st pic). The best made and longest lasting would be the Firestone TransForce Line. Available in HT and AT. HT (more of an on-road only tire) is on the olive truck (last pic) and also in the 2nd pic. The AT may be what you're looking for - since it has a bit more aggressive tread (third pic).

these are even tougher too find used.
i've been checking yards too find a decent set for my 1 ton.
i find one here and one there but never a matched set of decent ones.

there is a few on cl but they are asking $$$ for beat tires.

thinkin it would be easier to replace the rims with reg 16" but the 1/2 are oe rims.

i see those transforce tires all over they look like a good street tire.

i got 2 decent 245-75-16" bfg's for my 4x4 but its tough to find another pair.

I would look at the 33 12.5 16.5 BFG AT if you can find them anymore. I have the 35" tire on my Jimmy. I got a great deal on some 16.5" rims and Humvee tires 10 years ago when I did the 8 lug swap on my Jimmy. I hated the Humvee bias tires and the BFG's were the only real solution. I would have done MT's but they are no longer available. I have heard varying reports about availabilities of the 16.5 BFG's anymore though.

Buy new rims. With a little looking around you can find a plain steel aftermarket rim in 16 or 17 inch for $50-60 apiece new. It will save you a lot of headaches and really open up your options. That's what I did for my K20 and do not regret going to a 17" rim. Heck my first set of tires were free so it cost me $200 in rims to ride around for a year before replacing 2 tires.
