ok...it's CUT, and I don't remember EVER cutting it, so HOPEFULLY when I replace it today, it will fix some of my small electrical problems....

Run a new Battery cable size ground from the starter to the frame.

why not just bolt it to the head where its supposed to go?

I do, cuz I have my Fresh Air thing on the drivers side, AND my PCV Port is on the passenger side of my carb...

No, a piece of sandpaper. Hahaha, my dad put it there when the firewall rusted a hole around the heater core, and since this was HIS truck and he died, I WILL NOT remove that jerry-rig fix. Sorta, keeping his touch on the truck.

Well Gee. You got this big pos batt. cable going to the starter wouldn't you want a nice big ground cable there too. Makes your starter roll over alot better.

BTW: Did you get the strap installed?

Mine looks pretty nasty from all the oil that has leaked on it in the past. Can you buy them new from the dealer? Are there different lengths? How much do they cost?

I got a new one from Napa Auto Parts for $6, they had 12", and 18" lengths...trust me, GET THE 12"!

since when the starter is bolted to the engine, the entire mounting face of the starter is its ground, you're just as well off to put it where it belongs. you're not going to get any noticable gains by putting it directly on the starter. not to mention making the starter easier to remove/replace in the future, and routing the cables is 100x easier. ever had to replace your positive cable? its a b!tch to say the least.

A good heavy flat braided ground strap from the frame to one of the bell housing bolts will work better than using an insulated cable & having it melt against the headers...corn
