Time Crunch!!!

Long story short i bought my truck November of 2013. after spending that winter replacing all of the brake components and freshening up the top end of the motor i drove it around for a couple months until i got tired of driving around with a damaged fender. I decided to pull the fender in April 2014 which lead to removing the whole front clip and then why not the motor. The last couple fire seasons have kept me very busy so now is my crunch time to get this thing going in the next month for Kool April Nights in Redding, Ca. if all goes well i will be putting my motor in the frame this weekend, then the time to button up all the front clip.

Re: Time Crunch!!!

69 c10 long bed 2wd. 350/350. biggest thing that made me buy the truck was the factory bucket seat center console interior, don't tend to see many of those interiors here in northern california. The block is the factory 4-bolt 350, it was pretty worn out. Its now bored .030 over, stock crank turned .010/.010, stock rods reconned, flat top 4 eyebrow pistons, comp 270h and lifters, double roller timing set, comp magnum roller rockers on top of a set of 882 heads sticking with 1.94/1.60 valves and port matched. Edelbrock rpm intake with rebuiltedelbrock 1406 that was on it, we'll see how it performs with the package.
While prepping for the engine i serviced the factory th350 and replaced all u-joints, and prepped and painted the frame back to behind the tranny crossmember. Give or take aside from the battery, alternator, block, crank and rods everything under the hood will be brand new. Luckily i've been able to do almost everything myself since when not fighting fires i help my uncle in his machine shop. As long as everything goes good i may actually be ableto pull this off. I will try to update with pictures during this adventure to get it completed in the next month so i dont miss out on the 3rd Kool April Nights in a row since i bought it.

attached photo shows interior. only noticeable difference is i replaced factory wheel with a smaller grant

Re: Time Crunch!!!

paint is code 534 white/olive green. it was repainted at one time previously. but other then that someone took very good care of it during its life. little bit of rust damage around inside of bed and very minimal rust around drip rail. everything else is clean and solid especially for a california truck.

Re: Time Crunch!!!

Nice. Same color as mine. Thought I was going to have mine ready for Goodguys this weekend but I think getting my reg sorted is going to stop me. Maybe I'll head to Redding... when is it?

Re: Time Crunch!!!

Lookin' good, at this rate you'll get it done in time. Those guys in the window sure do seem to like it!

That first picture brings back a scary thought for me... had mine set up like that and made the stupid move of turning it a bit to much... and let's say a breaker bar can make a pretty loud sound when it passes by your ear an inch or two away!! Lucky moment for me.

Re: Time Crunch!!!

Nice job! I just wrapped up my engine build/motor-well paint project last week. Love the colors you picked for the engine, and that 270b is gonna rock! I went with the 280h and I love it. Where is Cottonwood? I'm in Colfax but I'm from Sacramento. I'd love to take the truck to some kind of event soon. It's still primer grey but what the heck, it's an old muscle truck. Yours is lookin great man, don't rush it too much

Re: Time Crunch!!!

I know it sounds redundant but make sure to check all the fluids and check the carb settings (especially idle screw)

Nice truck. I like that it has factory buckets and standard door panels.

I can't imagine driving to Redding with a 3 speed, but man would it be awesome to drive the truck to that show. What transmission is in yours?
