What's This Bracket For?

Can anybody tell me what this bracket on the bottom of the cab is for? We are going to remove it if there isn't any good use for it.

I think it's just a heat shield. They usually rust off on northern trucks. I need to find a good one for my V3500.

Yes it's the part of the heat shield, helps keep your gas peddle area cooler

1977 REG cab Long Bed with a 1984 Front Clip, 82 305 .60 over 9.0.1 flat top pistons, 4bbl, TH350, w/84 SS-intake & cam , w/ 1977 big block rad, 1975 gear box, 1984 master w/ metric fittings top & SAE fitting @ portion block, 1975 3.42 gear open diff. Duel 77-87 Factory air cleaner, duel inlet from rad support . Down sized 9' to new 8' Steel flat bed
Was a 77 454 w/308 gear. Taken out 550 lbs. up front with motor clip change.

It is a heat shield, but it's on the passenger's side of the truck. It is designed to keep the heat from the exhaust-mounted heat riser valve from transferring to the passenger compartment.

Came in handy for me, attached a clamp for my LS swap fuel lines to that piece.

Good idea!

We ran the fuel line up the outside of the frame rail in our swap so don't have much use for that bracket now...and its already gone under the knife so no more issues
