Question correct backspacing on 2wd 1/2ton stepper???

I'm in the process of ordering me some wheels, but who out there know's the correct standard backspacing on the rear of a stepside on a 15x8 inch wheel with a stock diffeential? I currently have 15x10's with 4.5" offset, and the tire is like 3/4" from the bed, and I can't afford to go out anymore because the tire would stick out of the fender, therefore have decided on some 15x8 torque thrust II's Thanks in advance!!!

If the tens fit i'd stay with 10's but an 8 with 3.5 inch of backspace should be the same offset you have now because you are taking an inch of each side of the wheel!

4-1/2" backspace is stock on 15 x 8 rims. My tires are about 3/4" from the box, too. The local Les Schwab tire store told me the torque thrusts wouldn't fit, but I never tried.

Good luck, scott

Thanks. I think the 15x8 torque thrusts with the 3.5" backspace will work. Any other experiences?

Mathmatically, going from a 10" wide wheel with 4.5 backspace to a 8" wheel with 3.5 backspace will work out to have exactly one inch more clearance on each side of the new 8" wheel... so if you had 3/4 inch on each side clearance on the 10" wheel you will have 1.75" on each side of the 8" wheel.

I'd like to see some pictures of the 10" that you have now if you have any...
Good Luck

I have been running another type of wheel when ordering my new Tourque Thrust wheels and I needed check my old ones, my old ones where 9.5 x 15, and they had a backspace of 3.75 inches, with the tires 295/50 they would just barely hit the inner bed panel. 67 stepside I added a 1/4 spacer to resolve problem. my new wheels I ordered a 10x15 with a 3.5in backspace. hope that helps.
