Custom Seat - Install 2010 Dodge Ram Seat

I have been asked to post how I modified these 2010 Dodge Ram Seats to fit my 69 C-10. Hopefully this will help someone out there. I picked the seats up from the local pick a part. $35 for the set, the covers were trashed. Neglected to take before pics, wish now I would have. The seats had head rests which I removed while recovering them. I purchased the leather hide from Kyson Leather- Labeled as Modern Black. It had the flat black sheen I was searching for. Patterned the flames off the valve covers and transferred the pattern to the leather. Hand stitched the flame pattern on to 1/2" sew foam. The center console lid was done with a foam overlay. This is the result after about 30 hrs.

Re: Custom Seat - Install 2010 Dodge Ram Seat

Seat Frame Modification:
I utilized the factory seat mounting locations already on the floor board. To do this, I cut off the dodge seat mounting tabs and placed the frame work in the truck. I used 2" flat bar to span between the adjustment rails of the frame. Measured and cut the flat bar, then located the mounting holes on the floor board, marked the flat bar and pre-drilled the hole. Bolted the flat bar to the floor and lined the frame work to the flat bar. I did this for both sides, aligned everything and then welded the flat bar to the seat frame with everything in place.

The actual frame modification took just a few hours to do. Here is the mounted results.

Nice... they look right at home in there. I like them A LOT. Does the console have the 12V power source and MP3 outlets inside?

Seats cost $35. Upholstery materials about $400.

Yes they have the 12V power supply but do not have MP3.

Re: Custom Seat - Install 2010 Dodge Ram Seat

Those look amazing! Excellent work! I have two questions for you. Is the seat cushion roughly the same height from the floor as original seats? (Is the ride height the same) and did you have to cut down the backrest to get it below the window?

Thanks!

Looks like you ditched the plastic cover pieces on the side as well.

1. Sorry, I do not have the dimensions from the original seat. I rid of it years ago. Front of this seat ride height is 11".
2. That's what I love about this seat. I didn't have to make any major modifications. I only removed the head rest and filled the holes.

My thoughts exactly. However, if this was an original build, factory buddies would be the way to go. This truck never had a chance at originality.

Actually no, this model seat did not have the plastic but rather a cardboard covered curtain that hides the tracks. (I should add that I intentionally chose this seat because of simplicity, no electronics or controls that I didn't need) I do plan to fabricate something to conceal the tracks- but that will be down the road during finishing.

Re: Custom Seat - Install 2010 Dodge Ram Seat

Nice, I love the storage too. You get the armrest with storage and you can lift it for a center seat. Does the center seat lift for more storage too. The last two Rams I owned you could lift the center seat for storage also.

Tempting to get rid of the bench. But my junkie old bench is surprisingly comfortable. I put new upholstery on top of old junk springs and stuffing. Comfortable believe it or not.

But those look real nice!

No, there is no additional storage with the center seat. That would have been nice though. Thanks for the compliment.

Does the center seat have a seatbelt as well? Does the center belt attach to the frame or the cab floor?
Thanks.

Yes, it has an adjustable lap belt. The belt and receivers attach to the seat framework.
I'm actually in the middle of designing a way to secure those belt points from the frame of the seat to the floor board. Just for peace of mind.
