Any body else out there do this

On the final days of my build and was wondering if anybody else out there does this to their step side steps. I have not seen it on a rebuilt truck, but I think it is the right thing to do

Good old skate board grip tape. That is how it came from the factory

I've had and seen quite a few stepside and have never seen that. I'm pretty sure that's not factory.

Was on mine when I tore it apart and it was factory color. That's the thing. We never do see them like that

Yeah, I like it. I think it's a great idea. The one to ask if it was factory, is Keith Seymour. He would know.

I'm not sure I like it, but not because it doesn't look good - I'd be afraid it'd encourage folks to step on them!

Cool Re: Any body else out there do this

Yep! I did it to mine back in '87 it lasted about 15 yr's and it was gittin worn down so I removed it and haven't replaced it.

BTW I can tell you with out a doubt that it was NOT factory cuz I bought my truck New! and I custom ordered my truck and I don't remember it being optional either.

In all the years that I've gone to shows or just around town I've never seen anyone else do this. Besides my self and now you. Good job BTW.

I bought a stepper new in 76, the steps didn't have anything other than paint on them.

Somebody steps on it. I have the authority to break their leg. And that includes my kids. And they know it

Well now that just sucks. I always thought it was factory. I wonder if it is on there because I have a sport. It was factory paint I took off. Oh well. I still like it. It's different

Re: Any body else out there do this

This was really common in the 70's. Hickey Enterprises sold strips of Grip tape for the rockers just inside to the door jamb to help avoid slipping with wet/muddy feet

Re: Any body else out there do this

I stepped on my steps today, and I'm 260 lbs lmao, why not step on them?

I think it's a good idea, I was going to put something on mine.

Why invite someone to step on all your hard work by putting that on there.

Re: Any body else out there do this

Looks good! When my truck was painted the shop Rhino Lined the steps, then painted them. So you got a tough, semi-non slip surface color matched.

Well for me it really wasn't so much for the anti slip features but to really protect the paint from sandy shoe scratch's.

BTW The step it self invites people to step on 'em especially kid's it's just one of them stupid human things we do!
