MD car show?

I was thinking about a car show I had heard of in Ocean city Maryland. Its October 6-9 and I know its ways down the road from now, but was wondering if anyones ever been to it and how is it around the area? I use to go to the one in May but the roads seem to get backed up when cruising. Is this still the same in October?

Re: MD car show?

yup, either time of year, the main routes(highways) are frustrating on MD's eastern shore. I've taken back-roads from Easton, MD on the 404 thru DE. and come into OC,MD. via Fenwick Island/ 120th ??? street, or around that number! It does add a few miles to the trip, but time wise, it's about the same.much more enjoyable ride to me.I personally have to go 1/2 way around the west side of Baltimore beltway, then down hwy97 to hwy 5o across the Chesapeake Bay bridge so unless its mid winter, my whole journey sucks. Both shows are worth going to tho. they fill the BIG parking lot at the inlet at one of them, I can't recall which one, It's been a few years for me. the other is at the convention center i believe. Ocean city is your typical east coast beach town, hotels, amusements, boardwalk, etc.. Rt1/ coastal hwy, the strip runs North and South for120 something' streets in MD, it's Delaware to the north, and a whole, lotta bay to the south.the whole place is only a few block-wide atoll with the Atlantic to the East and Assawoman bay to the west. The further out of the "Chaos" the cheaper the rates. If your booking in advance, and want a peaceful area,I recommend searching for a rental in Ocean Pines, a small modular, beach development just outside of town about 10 mins, but if you wanna walk or ride bikes without much driving, book on the Island

Re: MD car show?

Pretty serious event, and like many shows there's as many interesting cars driven, parked and cruising around by visitors as there are entered in the event itself. Action day and night. Street scene makes "American Graffiti" look like pre-schooler's in pedal cars. Traffic in and out is definitely tough. Fall event is not quite as crowded.
Plenty of youtube videos - just look for Ocean City Maryland or OCMD cruisin or cars...

Re: MD car show?

When I used to go to ocean city there was a road just over the bay bridge about 10-20 miles that I'd get off of 50 on and wind up thru Delaware eventually it spits you out on 50 near the big casino that is west of ocean city. Never much traffic and a nice drive over all. This may be the road Cherokeejohn was talking about. I know how to get there in my head but don't know the road names/numbers. I've never been to either show but I've got a few friends who used to go to both shows and they always had good reports. We used to go to ocean city for day/weekend trips, it's a fun place. Assateague is my favorite tho, no development at all save park service roads and buildings. The wild horses and natural beaches make it a sight to see. Not to mention the 90+ miles worth beach front 4x4 trails
