350 GM crate motor oil pan , can't find a replacement

I have a 1984 gmc 3/4 ton truck with a GM 350 crate motor. The oil pan is leaking but i cant find a replacement at the parts stores and the dealer wasn't any help.

There is a part number on the oil pan, 14101157. I searched on line and it is a valid number but it has been discontinued.

I'm not sure how to determine what motor i have and am having trouble crossing the pan part number. There is a number on the block on the passenger side behind the alternator and in front of the head but i can't find any info pertaining to it. The number is VJ043791.

I'm hoping someone has had to replace a pan like this and can help.

It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Almost any SBC oil pan will fit our trucks, Even ebay has cheap oil pan kits complete that are painted.

Here is one for under $65.00

If you are trying to get a GM pan , my question is why?

Isn't there a difference between a one-piece rear seal oil pan and a two piece rear seal oil pan? Need to determine what your crate motor has and then buy the correct pan. (all depends what the crate motor has, year of truck doesn't matter)

Leaking!!
Like it has a hole in it!
Or.....
Maybe you just need a gasket or two replaced.

Re: 350 GM crate motor oil pan , can't find a replacement

The oil pan has a hole/rusty so it needs to be replaced. I was just looking for a replacement and not necessarily an original. I provided the part number for reference.

The local parts stores didn't seem to have one and weren't able to cross reference it.

The oil pump also has a 3/4 inch pickup tube and most of the pumps listed 5/8. I wasn't sure if i was missing something since it is a crate motor.

Thanks

What side is the dipstick driver or passenger center bolt v/c or perimeter bolt v/c this will help determine what motor you have to order a oil pan

Re: 350 GM crate motor oil pan , can't find a replacement

The dip stick is on the passenger side. The stick pan has the ability to work either way with bump outs on both sides.

The valve covers are bolted along the perimiter.

Could it be the adtermarket pan will only have the bump out on the passenger side and i need to replace the rails that go along the oil pan flanges that the bolts go through. The stock pieces have a bump out on each rail.

Chevrolet Performance 10066039 is the one I found on Jeg's website. Dual dipstick bump out and two piece rear seal.

This was my point to the OP , not hard to find a pan that will work.

Re: 350 GM crate motor oil pan , can't find a replacement

Thanks for all the responses. The Jegs lead with the part number was very helpful.

It turns out that Jegs has the pan with the dual bump out but they also make pans that only have the bump out on the drivers side or the passengers side. For a third of the cost.

The problem I was having at the local parts store appears to be based on the dual bump out.

After learning that Jegs had pans with a single bump out that works I was able to find a pan at the local parts store with a single bump out on the passenger side that I needed. I was able to compare it directly with the pan I removed.

Thanks again for all the responses.

Dual bump or single bump don't matter. Its the gasket that matters. My gasket has the dual bump on it but my pan is driver side only and I have no leaks.

So i came across this message board as i am going thru thee exact same thing. I have checked w/ jegs and my local GM dealer as to find out 14101157 is discontinued. So reading your post can a single side bump out work still? Simple as buying a single bump out at a local parts store? any other modifications need to be done? What part number worked out for you? Please help me out if possible …. also can you call me for better understanding 559-230-7761. If this is ok
