66 c10

Hey everyone, new guy here. Getting ready to start on my grandfathers 1966 C-10 Short bed. It has a 283, four speed, its pretty bare bones but I am going to add some things to it. Grandfather drove it for almost 40 years and finally rested it in 2000, its been sitting since. It originally had the 292 but he wanted to swap for the 283 instead.

Re: 66 c10

Thanks, I look forward to getting this truck going again. Most of it is original but I am hoping to put some upgrades in.

Re: 66 c10

Well I will post pictures, I like to have records of progress. I am going to change the brakes from the original single bowl master cylinder and all four drums to a dual bowl with brake booster and front disc. Anyone know spindles that are interchangeable with this truck?

The 60-66 FAQ section at the top of the page is where you will find answers to about 90% of your questions.

A lot of ways to skin that cat. When you put on a booster Captainfab makes a great bracket to allow you to use existing bolt locations and properly positions the booster. He has a version for just the booster add or one with a hydraulic clutch master cylinder if you need to go that direction. It makes the job easy.
