Lifted 89 K5 gears

I have a lifted 4x4 89 Chevy K5 (350 TBI/700R4) on 37's. I'm wanting to change the gears to 4:88 or 5:13.

I think these are the ones I need for the rear?

But, I can't find the part number for the front set, unless it is the same front and back?

Thanks guys.

Re: Lifted 89 K5 gears

I'm pretty sure the gears are the same F to R on the 10 bolt. Low pinion fronts drive on the coast side of the gear instead of the normal drive side. Simple thing to do is order from Summit using the phone instead of your computer.

Yeah, when it comes to differential parts it's best to talk to someone to make sure you get what you need. If Summit can't give expert advice, call someone like Randy's Ring & Pinion or Reider Racing. They are specialists and will sell you the right stuff

Re: Lifted 89 K5 gears

Id put a bigger axle in off a 3/4 ton truck with 4:10s

For 37"ers 4:10s would work for me. Unless your building a race truck or sumpin

He has a 700r4. He needs 5.13 ideally. You're located in usa. I'm sure there is a 4 wheel parts store somewhere. Call one of those. They can typically have them next day.

Re: Lifted 89 K5 gears

Thanks guys. Does having the stock gears in it, hurt the transmission?

Re: Lifted 89 K5 gears

Yes. Excessive heat buildup and low line pressures are detrimental to a 700r4. Help it out and put a large cooler inline.

My 83 has the 700r4, w/ 37" tires and 4.56 gears. It seems to do real good.

Re: Lifted 89 K5 gears

Thanks guys for the help. Is brand name important in ring and pinion? Are Richmond's good? It looks like through summit racing 2 sets of Richmond ring and pinion and 2 install kits will run about $600, does that sound about right?
