Chasing what I think is a ground fault

When I hooked up my 70's GM van column in the 62 C10 I've been working on I went off the color code charts that are floating around and thought I had it in the bag.

I don't

I have no turn signals and my dash light stays on

I can go one better, the horn blows when you attempt to use a turn signal

Horn button itself is super sensitive (Grant kit on a Mooneyes wheel)

No flashers either even though I added the flasher circuit.

I have brake lights, headlights, park lamps, back up lights but the column wiring is in need of some reconciliation

Thanks in advance to anyone who will endeavor to shed some light on this on this mystifying dilemma I face

Re: Chasing what I think is a ground fault

This may help. I used these to hook up a 69 truck column to my 64 wiring. I didn't use all the wires and I would say it sounds like something is hose up in the column canceling cam/wiring.

The pdf shows a comparison between the 64-66 and the 67-72

Re: Chasing what I think is a ground fault

My 1st guess is the column needs to be grounded. Next is the horn wiring is messed up as well in the column, or rather at the aftermarket parts.
Dash lights staying on may be a unique issue. Is their brightness controllable by turning the headlight knob?
Wiring on old stuff is a real pain, so good luck.
