Yep. Used to deliver Coke vending machines. Been worked pretty hard too. Good luck with completing yours. Mine will take a bit of work to get it back on the road.

Re: 67 C20 Long Step: "Slow Silver"

OK - time for a minor update. Finally got my house done. Or at least done enough to move in. (Did I mention that you should never move in the middle of a project? I think I did...)

Rick got tired of my truck and pushed it off on to John K. who lives down the street from him. John's a real artist too, so no worries.

John had the fenders, the doors, and the cab while I was moving. He spent some time massaging them, but the pictures are no where to be found, so there's only pictures of the cab after sandblasting. Too bad - it makes it look like John started with a perfect cab - which just isn't the case.

Re: 67 C20 Long Step: "Slow Silver"

So, after wintering in John's garage, the paint was done and I finally had a place to put the parts. This stuff came out like glass. You can shave in the door sides.

John has three young children, three dogs, and three cats. I have no idea how he kept these parts from getting scratched. I know he was happy to see them leave...

Driving gloss black parts across four states is a little interesting. You can't strap to the parts themselves. The cab was up higher, and strapped lower, than I would have liked.

The ride was fun. It was great seeing guys my age with their nose pressed up against the glass to get a better look.

Made it back. No scratches. No rock chips. Nothing for Christmas for me this year...

Paint looks fantastic!

with that white truck on the lift, how much clearence is under it? How tall are your ceilings where you put the lift?

I am planning a lift for my shop, just not sure what I want just yet...

I have a 12 foot (really 11' 7") ceiling. I'm 6 foot and I have to stoop with the truck on there. My car will probably allow the full 6 foot under the lift.

Re: 67 C20 Long Step: "Slow Silver"

Sheesh - 2 years have gone by since an update. Big day here yesterday as the cab went on the chassis. It's truly incredible that this gloss black cab got hauled across four states, stored for a couple of years, and then installed without scratching it.

Many thanks to my nephew, brother, and the other unsuspecting volunteer for all their help.

Only just saw this build and it's good to see you're back to it.
Great job so far.

Thanks. I forgot to add that the 292 got rebuilt too. The engine shop said they took a bunch of pictures during the rebuild, but - just like the cab - they got lost. Oh well, here's the before and after:
