Oil Tube to rockers 49 chevy 216

Guys I found the issue of my noise. it doesn't appear I am getting enough oil to the top of the motor. So after disconnecting the tube in the middle of the lifters I spun the motor in which I found that some oil was coming out but not a lot. Next I pulled it down to find that there was a rub hole where it comes up through. So me being me I figured well time to replace the whole tube right. Well I loosened the lower connector but the tube will not pull out.

So is it a case I have to drop the oil pan?

Also what is the correct term for this tub and probably be a LMC or Elklers purchase I bet.

Next what would be the best route to clean out the feeder holes for each rocker?
Any advise.

The rocker oiling system is kind of fickle on the Stovebolts. Pull the center head bolt to see if everything is clear. Take the side cover/push rod cover off.
There's an oil feed tube that feeds oil to the head.

Lot's of info here.

Keep us posted on the oil tube. I went through the same thing. Had to replace it. I have extra tube if you want some.

Re: Oil Tube to rockers 49 chevy 216

Thanks for the offer of tubing. I have a friend in the heating and air biz that got me some 3/16 tubing. I will say what a chore to get it all apart. I tore up the fitting on the passenger side of the block so had to find something that would work. I was surprised how it differed from the 2 piece compression setup that enters through the water jacket on the driver's side. Maybe some of the parts weren't original.

All in all I am amazed at what Chevrolet did with the the rocker oiling tube and how they conjured this up.
