Im pretty sure the master cylinder is going bad. The brake pedal will leak down while sitting at stoplights.
Anyways...what is everyone using for a new master cylinder?
Ive heard a little about hydraulic cylinders but I;ve never put one in...is it worth it or should I just get a reman one from oreillys and be done?

I replaced mine with a stock one. You should be good to go with stock. Mine stops great with no issues, it was WAY cheaper than hydraulic, there isn't another belt to keep track of and another system to maintain.

Not sure what the OP was referring to when he said "hydraulic cylinders". If you meant "wheel cylinders" then don't bother replacing them unless there's a leak. If your pedal slowly goes to the floor and there's no leaks anywhere, then most likely it will be the master cylinder. A quality rebuilt one should fix the problem, but don't buy the cheapest. Tuff Stuff makes a good aftermarket new unit, and they are made in the US.

I think he was talking about hydraulic brake units that run off of the power steering pump. Trucks with big motors that don't produce a lot of vacuum use them for their braking system.

^^^ yup, that's what I was referring to. I don't see a need to replace the wheel cylinders as they are sealed well and no leaks in the system. I'll just grab a replacement master cylinder and go that route. Thanks guys!

OK, you must be talking about Hydroboost. IMO, replacing the master will fix the issue. Good luck, and let us know how you make out.
