55.2 cab mounts

I have a 55.2 short box step side, that i aquired, there is no rubber between front cab mount and front frame mounts. There is rubber on rear mounts. I think there should be rubber insulator on the front am I right? I have attached pics of front and rear mounts, can they be replaced by jacking up the cab, one side at a time. The hood is not a great fit it looks like the cab is slopping on a down ward angle. When I view cab mounts from suppliers they only seem to show 2 square ones and 2 round ones plus some shims and bolts. THANKS

i just took my cab off my frame (58 Apache) and it was the same, im gonna assume thats the way it was done from factory. i dont think adding some cushion will hurt tho.

No rubber on the front, it needs to stay in place to keep the front clip aligned. Rear have rubber to dampen the movement somewhat. I put in a piece of 60 mil urethene to avoid the metal to metal contact. If your raise the cab, you will also end up raising the radiator support go get the fenders and hood to fit right. That will change the relationship between the bumper and the grille/fender sheet metal too.

I just got a brand new set of Cab mounting Hardware for my 58 & 59
their is a rectangular steel washer and a very thin "Rubber" rectangular piece for the front
mounts, Not much to cushion the mount but their is a rubber piece that goes there!
You could probably shim that portion of your cab up with washers and add a thin rubber piece of say, inner tube there.

ORRIE, THANKS FOR THE ADVICE, WHAT DID YOU USE FOR 6mm URETHANE. WITH THE CAB SITTING LOW ON FRONT MOUNTS, THE PANEL BELOW THE GRILLE IS ALSO LOWAND RESTING ON THE FRAME RAILS.

You should have an industrial plastics supply house somewhere close that supplies things like UHMW Delrin, Lexan and other plastics that you could probably get a scrap of thin plastic

I think going with a Composite type of material would be worth looking into, I think the rubber piece that were supplied in the kits i just bought will not last very long,and Honestly
think is kinda worthless! I was thinking of maybe routing out a thin piece of
composite decking and using it in place of the rubber piece, just a thought?

I used 60 mil commercial roofing pvc material. I always grab scraps out of the dumpsters when I go to job sites.

Orrie did you use just that piece by itself or did you have to use any other shims with it?

If you want a real mount, I used a transmission donut mount from these trucks sandwiched between two 1 3/4 core plugs, tack welded in place to keep the cab alignment. obviously drilled through the plugs so the bolt fit through. IMO, a great fix, but.....I also used a F bird clip so the height of the core support was adjustable to me. The only photo I have shows the one cup, upside down, welded to the frame. there is another welded the same way to the cab. Thought I might switch to urethane at some point but these are working great so far.
