door latch control for a 67

Hey guys I'm just ordering stuff up for my 67 and i noticed the door latch control is 68-71 only? does anyone know why or what the difference is ??? ( #3 in pic )

Thanks for any tips!

I think the part where the handle attaches is longer on the '72. Not 100% sure but I'm sure someone who actually knows will chime in.

72 is definitely longer. I think you want to know why it won't work on your 67. The inside handle is different on a 67 so that piece may very well be a different length also. If nobody comes in with the exact answer I can compare that part on a 67 door against a newer one for you tomorrow.

The 67 latch relay/control shaft is short like the 68-71 relays but the splined end of the shaft is different on the 67's, the splined tip is shorter along with the handle retaining clip slot location on the shaft end. Here are a few older pics from our archives, are you trying to use OE 67 style inner door release handles? Mel

Just went and took a couple of pictures showing a 67 latch relay and a 68-71 relay side by side, note the differences on the shafts splined ends. Mel
