Anybody have this option code on your truck, or seen it?

ZV1 - MSO Requirement

If so, details? Year, model, plant of manufacture, and any other details or history of said vehicle that you know.

I believe MSO, stands for Manufacturers Statement of Origin, so it's a paper trail RPO rather than a physical add-on.

Wow! All these trucks and not one other ZV1? This has tow hooks, 8 tracks, curise control, and shoulder belts beat in the ultra-rare category for sure.

did a little digging...if you search Google for "ZV1", you will get 2 or 3 sites that list the RPO for Pontiac Fieros and 1974 Camaros. I searched Manufacturer's Statement of Origin and got this:

Quote:
TO BUY A NEW VEHICLE IN MISSOURI- The dealer will give you a title application and an assigned Manufacturer's Statement of Origin. The Manufacturer's Statement of Origin indicates the vehicle is new and has never been registered. The dealer and purchaser must complete the odometer disclosure portion on the back of the Manufacturer's Statement of Origin.
excerpted from:http://www.dor.mo.gov/mvdl/drivers/d.../chapter13.htm

Still puzzling as to why its even listed on the sticker. I guess it would be cool if you had the original sheet, tho.

I believe we get something similar to that with the fleet vehicles we buy at work. We buy directly from the manufacturer. They give us what looks like a title when the delivery company drops off vehicles. I see them on a regular basis. It is a manufacturer title. To get the vehicle on the road, this is taken to the DMV and the vehicle is registered. Then plates are issued, they retain the manufacturers title and send a regular state issued title in the mail. Maybe this was purchased as a fleet vehicle? Most of the trucks we buy are normal run of the mill trucks. Sometimes we buy very high optioned trucks for members of upper management.

Ok....couldn't find anything on ZVI but ZV11 is on the sticker which is a number used on a wiggens fast fill fuel tank....does it have an unusual gas tank?...maybe used at an airport?

Thanks this is the exact type of info and feedback I'm looking for.

I believe the option # is ZV1 and it is a standard RPO used thru the 90's (possibly still) for the MSO on many if not all GM vehicles. So I'm confident as to what the RPO is, my question is why?

I too have done the google thing. There is nothing unusual about this burb (aside from being 4x4 3/4 ton with rare 3rd door option ). It's got no unusual equipment and has 3 seats. It did have a plow at one point but it was an aftermarket/PO install, not a dealer of factory item.

I has standard tank and I doubt it was a fleet vehicle as I have the protect-o-plate issued to an individual at a home address not a company or business address. It was sold at the Commonwealth Chevrolet Company in Boston MA (Unfortunately now defunct) to a man who lived in Hanover NH (probably dead - he's sold his home as it's now the residence of an Optomotrist - another google search ). I don't have a build sheet but I do have the Ziebart rustproofing docs

Most vehicles sold in the northeast were manufactured in Tarrytown NY or Oshawa Ontario. This was a Flint MI produced vehicle. I'm wondering if the MSO was required because the delivery route this truck would have taken may have been thru Ontario and Quebec, down 91/93 thru VT/NH into Boston? It does not appear to be a special order vehicle. Low 4x4 burb production would lend itself to fewer facilities equipped to produce such a vehicle, which may be why Flint and not the "usual" facilities.

As many of you are aware I'm more interested in a vehicle's history and originality than I am with customization and modernization. This RPO quite frankly has me stumped. Any ideas and theories are welcome. Ideally I'd like to see other vehicles with same RPO with some know history to go with it.
