Hood Question 1949
Is there a way of replacing the hood return spring for the safety catch? Mine does not have one at all and just flops back and forth and as fast as this thing is getting I cannot take a chance. I do not even know where it would go and attach to.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Re: Hood Question 1949
I'm sitting on my boat at the Marina at Port Ludlow WA so I can't run out and check but it should be doable.
I found the latch for sale but didn't find the spring by it's self. The trouble with most that see is some fool slammed the hood down and bent the safety latch. I think what you might have to do is grind the head off the pin and take it apart and either get a good used spring or hunt down a spring that will work. I can't think of the proper term for that style of spring though. Torsion spring is what the type is like on a mouse or rat trap. Have to find one that works in the right direction though.

Re: Hood Question 1949
Wow... thank you both... I think I will buy the whole kit. I just do not want to take a chance with 68 year old parts anymore...
