Need some side mirror measurements please

In need of some bolt hole locations for 69 Below the eyeliner mirrors. Hopefully Firstowner69 will chime in. Guess I need the top bolt hole location and the front hole location.

The doors I have had sport mirrors and noting to go off of.

Many, Many thanks, Rich

Re: Need some side mirror measurements please

I am "separated" from my truck until late next week and can't help until then. Someone else will probably chime in before that. The locations may be shown in the assembly manual if you have one.

For future reference...
The picture below is from the assembly manual. The measurements on my factory doors are VERY SLIGHTLY different from the manual and also from side to side.

Hopefully, I can post "real" measurements tomorrow. However, by "very slightly different" we are talking a variation only 1/8" or less here and there from the measurements in the assembly manual. That probably wouldn't make any difference. As a side note, the factory attached the '69 mirrors with hex head sheet metal screws. Some of mine pulled out when the truck was only a couple years old thanks to an electric/telephone pole too close to the curb. I drilled the holes and inserted bolts. When I restored the truck, I drilled all the holes and used jack nuts with vinyl covered heads like those GM used in later years. This could have moved the locations on my doors slightly.

Re: Need some side mirror measurements please

I can measure mine for you tomorrow. But I measure in metric so I don't know how useful that is to you.
It looks as though first owner has you covered, but if you want a second point of reference and you can read metric sing out.

Re: Need some side mirror measurements please

My SPID shows DG4 and they are the shorter legged Below Eyelines. I'm guessing the ones in FirstOwner69's pic from the manual those would be the long legged version(D29?). Not sure if this will help or which you might have but here are measurements of my shorter versions.
Just realized yours is a 69, mine is a 72.

Yup, yours are the 72 only version of the DG4s.

The ones in this thread are the 69-72 version.

Do the NOS screws have a "P" on top of the bolt? Screws just screw into the door sheetmetal. No nut or backing plate w these.

As I mentioned in post 6, I replaced the original hex head sheet metal screws with jack nuts, a type of nutsert. I'd seen those used on a 79 Chevy van that I removed some mirror heads from (and the neat stainless bolts for the jacknuts). DeadheadNM is right on about the screws.

I got tied up today trying to replace a water pump on a 25 year old Mercury 150 HP outboard and totally forgot about the measurements until dinner. I will get some pics with measurements tomorrow when it's light out. I wish that Merc was as easy to work on as a SBC!

Post Re: Need some side mirror measurements please

I have added the actual measurements from my '69 and keyed them numerically to the assembly manual page I posted previously (picture below). The biggest variation is the horizontal distance between the bottom screws. I tried taking pictures with tape measures to show the measurements, but, due to parallax and the risk of damaging the paint, I abandoned that method.

If I were to drill doors with no existing holes, I would follow the assembly manual.

In case the measurements in the picture are not clear, they are:

#1 Left 1-3/4" Right 1-13/16"

#2 Left 2-3/4" Right 2-7/8"

#3 Left 9" Right 9"

#4 Left 8-3/4" Right 8-13/16"

#5 Left 13-7/16" Right 13-1/8"

#6 Left 9-5/8" Right 9-1/2"

EDIT: Corrected error in picture.
