Wiper switch

So my original wiper switch finally fell apart so had to order a new one from Ecklers. I installed it and it is extremely slow. Slower than normal and only has 1 speed instead of 2. I didnt change anything else besides the switch. Could it be a faulty switch or would it be something else? Like I said nothing else was changed besides replacing the switch.

Re: Wiper switch

if it has only one speed the its a 1960-63 switch, you should have gotten a 2 speed switch 67 or 68-72 switch

Not sure what could cause that. If the switch is grounded good to the dash and the connector is on the terminals correctly it should work the same as it did before the switch fell apart.... I would take the switch back out of the dash, connect a ground wire from it to the dash and check the connector terminals and try it out of the dash. It will not work without the ground wire. If it still won't work I would try another one.

Wouldn't the single speed switch only have 2 terminals instead of three?

Re: Wiper switch

It is a 3 connection switch. Wouldn't the ground be the switch to the dash?

Re: Wiper switch

Lockdoc is correct the 60-63 switch would have only 2 terminals , if you have 3 terminals then you have the 2 speed switch, but there is like I said a 67 is one year only 2 speed switch and a 68-72 2 speed switch I see listed in parts books . I would check in to that and see if that has anything to due with your issue . then move on from there I am sure there is a test proceedure for the wiper motor /switch

I am not sure but I thionk the switch has not 12v running to it the motor gets the 12v and as you select your functions you are completing ground circuts to the motor for slow/fast and washer pump operation

Here is the test procedure thread. Scroll down to the 2 speed wiper motors.....
