Tire Bulge Question
Yet another tire question. Here's the deal. I have 15 x 10's on the rear of my 72 stepside with the 275/60/15's. The tire where the peak of the bulge is, is like 3/4" from the bed on the inside (I'm sure you all know how 275's bulge out towards the center on a 10" wheel). I'm planning on buying some new wheels, and would like to keep a 10" width wheel in the rear. Is there a possibility that I could find a tire size on say a 17x10 that would not bulge, and, therefore, give me the little bit more room I need back there??? Thanks....

The larger the rim and keeping the same size OD of tire there will be less tire bulge due to the Lesser sidewall.. JMO

That's what I was hoping for bowtie67.
Cdowns: The thing is if you're trying to run 10's in the rear of a stepper, you don't have too much room to play with backspacing because you don't want them out past the outside of the fender, and you have limited space to the inside of the bed. With my current rallys and 275-15's, if I even went out an inch, they'd be sticking out past the side of the body/fender. Thanks... Last edited by 72step; 03-17-2004 at 08:38 PM. |

Just go a little wider with the tires. 285 or 295.
