how to install 68 grill inserts?
Ok I finally got my Grill inserts back from paint, The originals have been
miss-placed and I bought these from a member on the board. The originals were removed 30 years ago when my dad first took the truck apart and I have no idea how to install them. Do the chrome trim pieces just hold them in or is there some other fasteners I need to help hold them in? I see one bolt in the center to the grill support. Does anyone know what size that center bolt is so I can get a couple on my way home today? The truck is getting very close to being finished ok 100% drivable they are never finished! lol I want to get those blinkers in! thanks for the help Chad Last edited by cjoenny89; 09-08-2016 at 07:07 AM. |

LMC has a decent exploded view to give you an idea.
or you can look at it on their site. https://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/full.aspx?Page=102 it is pretty straight forward once you see how the trim clips go on.

Re: how to install 68 grill inserts?
I already looked there and they do not even show the grill inserts. Thanks for trying to help. I think there new grill assembly has the grill inserts built right in. The inserts go in the original grill like a kind of louver or deflector and the bottom insert lets you mount the blinker lights. The LMC diagram doesn't show the inserts or how they could be possibly mounted. I already looked them up.
Anyone else that actually has had them off that can tell me if they need extra fasteners or if the chrome trim rings (part #5) are the only thing that hold them in place? Thanks |

Re: how to install 68 grill inserts?
I just took mine apart last night 3 rivets per insert total of 6. I circled the general area of the rivets.
