Rework of a previous butcher job
I will explain the title at a later date! I have a question about motor mounts? The truck I am putting back together had a small block. I am using a big block. The small block motor mounts will bolt up. I was reading a members classified and learned that 72 had a specific motor mount for big block (clam shell). My question is should I switch over to that type ???? Is it stronger ?????

Re: Rework of a previous butcher job
I think they are a stronger design. I know for a fact that the clams shells mounts are cheaper to buy then the 68-71 mounts

Normally the '72 only BB mounts sell for more than the '69-'71's. You need to use one or the other so that the exhaust manifolds/headers will clear the frame brackets. LockDoc

Re: Rework of a previous butcher job
I should maybe rephrase that. The actually engine stands (metal brackets) are probably the same strength. But I think the rubber mounts or 72 clam shell are a stronger design. I have heard 73 and ups are even better but not sure how to make them work.
The price I was talking about was for the rubber mounts and 68-71 are about $90.00 per set vs clam shell at $40.00 per set. Not sure what the stand prices are going for. Either way they still add up. I would definitely get a BB set of some kind it will save some headaches later on.
