Headers for a 66
I have a 66 lowered 2 inches in the front can a guy run long tube headers or will they scrape? Looking to buy a mid length set who makes a good pair? Thanks in advance

Re: Headers for a 66
I have https://m.summitracing.com/parts/HED-69890 on my truck that is running 3" drop spindles in the front. Haven't been on the road yet, but looks like I have plenty of clearance.
Not a great photo as you can't see the collector, but it's only .5" lower than the rest of the exhaust. I had to use these headers as my old ones wouldn't clear my CPP motor mounts. |

Re: Headers for a 66
Those fit and clear everything in engine compartment etc? I see those aren't even listed for a 66. Kind of what I was wondering figured a guy could probably make a lot of these work

Re: Headers for a 66
I had clearance issues with long headers so I ended up using these 69648 Elite mid-sized headers from Hedman. They cleared everything in my 66 and I had the local muffler shop run pipes back through a set of Flowmaster 40's. Great sounding headers and the thicker flanges on Elite headers are less likely to leak on you like some of the cheaper thin flanged headers.
These 69648 headers are designed for those putting a SB into a Jeep but they work nicely in a 64-66 truck.

Re: Headers for a 66
Here are photos of my setup. These are full-length, not mid-length. Clears the mounts, cross member, frame, just fine so far.

Re: Headers for a 66
Those headers look great. Do you recall what number Hedman's they are?
