4spd manual trans - 2wd version VS 4wd ?
It the stock 4wd 4spd manual trans different from the 2wd version.

Yes. Different main shaft depending on whether it was mounted to the transfer case or not.

No. It's the shaft that all of the gears are attached to. You must disassemble the trans, remove all the gears, bushings and synchros. Transfer to new main shaft and reassemble.
