Front Sway Bar Questions

Getting ready to add a front sway bar off a '72 to by '69 SWB. Looking at other threads, some have mounted the bushings straight to the frame and others have used the brackets and mounted to these. Any plus or minus to either method? The truck is not lowered nor will it be. Running on stock wheels at stock height.

For a stock height truck use the brackets. Some remove those brackets on a dropped truck to keep the bar at the right angle to the lower control arms. It doesn't affect the performance of the bar.

I have a set of mounts if you are needing some. Don't want to turn this into a classified thread so you can pm if interested. I would definitely use them if you are not lowering.

I agree with the others. Use brackets at stock height.

Yes, the ends are connected directly to the A arms and with the stock height truck you definitely want the brackets for the correct geometry.

He is talking about the frame mounts. The control arm end bolts direct.

I'm having a hard time following everything here, but by the title I will say I have a 350 that is fine with the stock convertor, has a rebuilt QuadraJet, 1.94 valve heads, pretty peppy, and it rolls on down the hiway with a light touch on the throttle far from kicking in the secondaries. It takes a steep long grade to require kicking the secondaries in to maintain my speed. I have 4.10s in my K2500 and I roll all day long at 60. I used to run 70-80 in these trucks (all day long as well), and it doesn't hurt them. Sure, taller gears or overdrive make it way less stressful and leaves less effect on the longevity of the engine, so these days I am babying it for it's age a for being special as well as to save a lot in fuel. I get 12.5 mpg and to go 70 it drops to 10. That's about 50 more miles to a tank and that's a long way to walk. Much nicer to drive that far for free

I used Early Classic Enterprises brackets for lowered trucks on my stock height 72 C10 with a 1 1/4 inch swayer and had no issues over the 8 years they were installed. I liked them because it tucked the front bar up high and you couldn't see the sway bar unless you bent way down.

if you lowered your truck, just use the factory frame mounts and before you bolt them on, run the sway bar INSIDE the brackets using the horseshoe mounts and new pads. i can send a pic to an email or cell if you want to see what i mean
