Vintage air controller (oem) question
Quick question.... (VA and my vendor are gone for the weekend and i'm just too impatient too wait until Monday to figure this out)
I just received my Gen IV system, and they sent me the kit for a non-air cab using a heater only controller. I ordered the kit for using a OEM A/C controller. Looking at the packing lists for both kits, the only real difference I see is a bracket that mounts to the bottom of the controller. What is the purpose of this bracket? If not needed, it looks like I can use what they sent me, and just use the other instructions off their site.

The bracket is to mount the Factory air controller into the truck. If you have the original bracket you don't need this part.
Make sure you follow the instructions for the air controller as the amount you cut off the converter assy is different.

Cool. There is no GM bracket on the OEM controller though, right? As far as I know, it just bolts up to the dash with two bolts........just for clarification.

A factory dash unit for AC does have a spacer bracket under it to mount to the dash.

There would have to be some wiring differences???
The heater controler uses 3 sliders, the A/C uses 3 sliders and 3 speed fan switch.

The vintage air control does not use the fan switch. It uses the three slide controls only, so the only difference is how the converter ass'y attaches to the control and how much you cut off the mounting strip with all the holes in it. Principle of operation is the same for both controls just the mounting orientation of the converter ass'y is different.

So I pulled out my A/C controller and sure enough it has a bracket already. Guess I just never payed attention to it.
Looks like all systems are go!
