Mar-K woodgrain molding, tailgate?

I contacted Mar-K as I want to get their exterior woodgrain side molding for my 72. They do not make the tailgate woodgrain piece. Has anyone confirmed any of the aftermarket woodgrain tailgate moldings match the Mar-K side trim? I want to get Mar-K for quality, but if it looks nothing like my "other" brand tailgate piece, it would really bug me. Thanks.

Re: Mar-K woodgrain molding, tailgate?

If anyone has used Mar-K woodgrain side molding and another brand's tailgate molding, I'd really appreciate pics.

Anyone? As many people there are who recommend this trim, someone must have pictures of Mar-K woodgrain trim with someone else's tailgate woodgrain.

I would call Wes at Classic Heartbeat and get his opinion on this.

Re: Mar-K woodgrain molding, tailgate?

My side molding is from Mar-K, my GMC tailgate trim piece is from Classic Ind. I find them to be a great match.

Beautiful truck. I do recall the Mar-K website stating that some of the pieces are not made by them on the sides. I wonder if those are the small ones that looks slightly darker, or if that's just the angle.

Re: Mar-K woodgrain molding, tailgate?

Thanks for your help. Can you confirm if all the side pieces matched well, or are the ones the Mar-K doesn't make different (they don't make all the side pieces)?

I think they all match well (corner pieces are slightly darker), but if you are looking for "exact" match on all, you can put out a WTB for NOS woodgrain adhesive material. I have seen NOS material listed $25 - $75 LFT. Also, you can ask Mar-K to select best pieces before they pack and ship. Good luck!!
