Gas smell in cab
We went to a cruise in Saturday night about 15 miles from home. On the way I put about half tank of gas in truck. On the way home we start getting a fuel smell inside cab. Didn't last long since by the time we get home no more smell. Is there any way I could be getting a gas leak from tank. My tank is covered with carpet so I can't see anything. I am new to these and really don't know what to look for when I remove carpet.

Re: Gas smell in cab
Do you have a good seal on the fill tube where it comes through the cab? If not you could spill a little gas while filling the tank and it will run down the fill tube inside the cab. I need a new gasket/seal for my truck and it happened to me a couple times.
If this isn't the problem I would remove the carpet and check the tank for leaks. |

Re: Gas smell in cab
Look at your gas cap for cracks in the gasket. It can stink you up pretty good from a small crack.

Re: Gas smell in cab
Yep checked the gas cap gasket and it is broke with a section missing. I can see where gas is running down outside of cab. I think gas is sloshing out from the cap and some is getting back in the cab thru the rubber grommet creating gas smell in cab. Sound logical to you guys?
