Rear Shackle bushing removal 52 Chevy 1/2 ton
Need help on getting the upper shackle bushing out of the rear leaf spring so that I can install the new one on my 52. I was able to get the bottoms out of the leaf spring eye but still no luck on the tops. Anyone have any tips?

They are a press out. You either need to make up a tool or remove the perch and press it out and a new one in.

I used largest nut and bolt that fit and sockets to press out.

I used a piece of all thread and an old socket for 3 out 4 bushings. The 4th required a body saw, chisel, and lots of cursing.

Yup. I think I had one of those. I also used a plumber's torch to heat the bushing.

Re: Rear Shackle bushing removal 52 Chevy 1/2 ton
Using the method they suggested works pretty simple and doesn't take a lot of effort of frustration. Trying to beat the out is nothing but frustration. After 40+ years I learned that taking a hack saw blade and sticking it through a bushing and then putting the saw back together lets you cut a slot in the bushing so the pressure is relieved and they usually knock or pull out easily.
