those are rock guards. they attach to the rear bumper brackets between bumper and tailgate

That looks awesome! and I understand what a labor intensive chore body and paint is , just shot my 66 last week My truck was also saddle poly and white but now is gold - white , ill post some pics next week. Once again great job
