Part pricing help

I've decided that I want to start to get my truck pulled apart and I want to put on the correct parts that it had in 68', rather than the 71/72 gmc front clip I have on plus some other parts, so I just want to get an estimate as to how much they will cost in decent shape (OEM only).

I need:
68' Front Clip, pretty much the whole clip minus the hood. I will need all chrome as well.

Not absolutely necessary but I might need 8ft fleetside bedsides, I will need a tailgate.

I will probably need doors as well.

And just in case I decide to just swap my parts onto a less rusty truck, roughly how much would a stripped rust free cab with title cost?

Again I'm looking for just an estimation as to how much I'm looking to spend for each lol. If anyone's purchased the things I'm looking for, how much did you pay for them if you don't mind me asking?

Re: Part pricing help

I saw a complete 67 or 68 Chevy front clip on Craigslist upstate about a year ago for $600. Think he had bedsides for another $250.

Not sure what you'd be swapping onto a less rusty truck, sounds like you want to replace everything but the frame!

Re: Part pricing help

Haha I might need one of them too! Lol. The parts I have arent that bad (minus the 68' clip which I dont have at all), but I'd just want to see if it's worth my time fixing the part or just getting a new one.

Re: Part pricing help

There is board member "lane224" that parts out trucks and he is in New York State, doesn't say where in his profile, and he may have what you need for original parts. You can find his posts in the for sale section on here.

Re: Part pricing help

FYI 68-72 GMC and 68 Chevy fenders and hood are the same.

Re: Part pricing help

having lived in the wonderful world of road salt and coastal flooding, half the battle is that most of the stuff in your area is rusty crap....and the good stuff is in the southwest....so now you have the challenge of getting large pieces of delicate sheetmetal cross country without damage....which isnt cheap....so the going rate of a good clip in kansas is nowhere near what you'll be paying for one on long island....back in the day i wound up buying an oklahoma truck at carlisle for my body swap...it was cheaper than the individual pieces would have been...so if theres that much wrong with the truck you have, you may be better off flipping it and buying something else

Re: Part pricing help

I agree with Volksworld . he is spot on .being I am not that far from LI I understand what he is saying. the only other option would be to buy a finished restored truck, in the end it would most likly be cheeper ...

but if you enjoy the building aspect , then you will have to deal with the north east builders syndrone of looking for solid sheet metal..

And also dont be suprised if you dont end up with 2 or 3 trucks worth of parts after your build. (somtimes you need to buy a entire truck to get what you need) good luck have fun .
