Bed-side toolbox patch panels

I doubt if they exist but just thought I'd check. Does anyone make the strip of rocker panel lives just below the tool box? The part that always rusts out? Thanks.

Re: Bed-side toolbox patch panels

. . . .

The guy who did the restoration on my 70 C-10 bought a lower bedside panel from LMC ( number two in the first picture, below )

He then cut the "hole" for the toolbox door out of that and made it look PERFECT, somehow !!!
( so it CAN be done like that if you have HIS talent for bodywork !!! )

. . . .

Use a rocker panel and modify it. Trevor

Can you expand on this? What kind of rocker panel?

Re: Bed-side toolbox patch panels

On my repair, I cut a normal rocker panel. It has the bends where you need it for the hinge lip if I remember right, plus the correct curve for the body line. Trevor

Re: Bed-side toolbox patch panels

What do you think the trim for a bed with a toolbox is worth since they seem to be hard to come by?

Re: Bed-side toolbox patch panels

The 71 I owned back in the late 70s had the toolbox option, and it was a rust factory even when it was not very old, and I do look after my vehicles. I would think that someone would be making the bedside or patch panel you need, but maybe not enough trucks were sold with the option to make it worth while for the parts guys to make that piece.

I like the suggestion of just using a regular rocker panel, and modifying it. Should be doable.
