73-87 long bed 2wd 4 link coil over set ups.

I have a long bed 2wd its fairly low and i am upgrading to a 4 link since i have just completed my own custom notch. What i mainly want to know from anybody running a long bed 2wd is what brand coil overs are you running and what spring rate. Part numbers will help. I want to know everything including preload , spring length , travel. i am going to weigh and order my own but i want to see what other people are running and if they like it / if it works well on street.

Re: 73-87 long bed 2wd 4 link coil over set ups.

doing some research on the topic myself i found that brothers sells a parallel 4 link back half essentially that comes with 220# springs on a 5 inch stroke shock. Now if they just sold only the coil overs.

its hard to believe what 4 link kits cost, when the only expensive component is the coil overs. Rod ends/bushings and tubing is dirt cheap anymore. Just have to be confident in your welding/fab skills.

Re: 73-87 long bed 2wd 4 link coil over set ups.

I have coilovers all around on my 01 GMC Single Cab Stepside with a triangulated 4 link out back. Fronts are 12", 800lb. Rear is 14", 225lb. Coilovers are RideTech HQ Series. I could not be happier with them.

Your spring rates may be a little different, but should be close. I started with 250lb springs in the rear and they were just too stiff. Springs are pretty cheap, so it doesn't hurt too bad to do a little experimenting.
