SM465 swap

I would like to swap a sm465/np205 from a 77 k-10 into my 72 k-20 with a th350/np205. Both trucks have 350s. Other than cab controls, what do I need to look into? Driveshaft length? Cross members?

You'll need the frame mounts or the "zbar" and the associated rods to connect the pedal to the fork. Your crossmember will have to move forward but my 85 frame had the holes predrilled... Driveshaft will have to be legnethened my front one worked fine... Its the little nickle and dime stuff that kills ya lol

Re: SM465 swap

I swapped out my 350/205 in favor of the 465/205 in my 69 k5 and I don't remember having to drill holes for cross member. Some of those years offered the 465/205 or 350/205 combo.
I did do a hydraulic clutch so I did not have to mess with all the mechanical linkage. Only tricky part for me was getting the master in a good spot.
My drive lines worked with out modification. It does get used both on road and off.

Re: SM465 swap

you will need the clutch linkage and bell crank, one thing you will need is to change your rear driveshaft yoke from your 205 to the new 205...3/4 ton is larger, i have done this and the splines are the same....i have done this conversion on my 72 K20 also...you have the aluminum bell housing from the 77, which is good, but if you use the clutch throw out arm from a 72, which i did, you will need to order and change the ball that screws into the bell housing, that the arm pivots on, it is different on a 73 and newer, i think LMC has them... good conversion IMHO
