Re: Frenched headlights

Dang I didn't realize that picture was that blooming big. I posted it earlier and then took off to work.

When you french the lights with 52 Merc or 52 Merc style rings you have to take the headlight buckets off reverse the clips that the the screws that hold them so you can put the screws in from the back and then grind the lip off the edge of the headlight buckets and insert the buckets from the inside of the fender. It also takes pulling the bucket out from below the fender to change a headlight bulb if it needs to be changed. Not a big deal as I have done it a number of times since 1980 when I first frenched the lights. The photo is from the Chevy GMC truckin Nationals in Ogden in 1982. That little blond is 37 years old now.

There is also some metal work involved around the lights at the front of the fender to get it to flow right. I cheated on that truck an the filler is rather thick and that is one of the things on the list to correct on the current and hopefully last rebuild .

71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
