Leaking gas tank, wey fix?

Ok folks
My friend has an 84 3/4 ton 4x4 with the dual saddle tanks. The driver's side one has a small leak. Is there an easy way to fix this? JB Weld or anything similar that will work? The tank isn't working now anyway, so he has also thought of just dropping the tank and plugging the line.

I've used Water Weld with success. I'm pretty sure it's made by J.B. Weld.

I replaced my gas tank last year,and found out after removing it,it was leaking under the band that holds it in the frame of the truck. You could probably fix your leak with jb weld,but I suspect another leak would pop up eventually. A new tank is $100,and if you need a new sending unit,as I found the old one easily broke off at the inlet tubes when i tried to remove them in an effort to maybe reuse it in the new tank. A new sending unit is almost $100 as well. If you do replace the tank with a new one,or even fix the old,put pieces of rubber inner tubes between the bands and your tank to protect it from rattles,and rust on the bands from rusting the tank out in the future

a good bandaid that has worked for me many times is using some rtv that is not gas soluable. apply to area that is leaking(best if tank is empy) after letting set for a few minutes i then spray the tank with undercoating spray. if it under the band, after you bolt the band back up spray again over the band to form a complete seal. ive done this on my monte carlo three years ago, had leak under band. the tank has yet to leak again. the rtv i use for this is a quik setting sealent which works as a plug. the undercoating spray is a back up measure that seals seals the whole area.
