Speed minder question
How difficult is it to install a speed warning pin in a regular tin. Does it have to be the brass pin? I have a speed warning gauge cluster without a tach. I have a 67 tach cluster that I would like to put the SW speedo in. Has anyone ever done this kind of swap?

Re: Speed minder question
I did on a rusted out tin plate but it's not easy. It is pressed into the tin. I used a dremmel tool from the inside and very carefully ground the brass til lt could be removed. To reinstall I used a push nut like used on the heater controls and from the outside it looks like it was never removed

Re: Speed minder question
I would cut the back tin for the tach. Would be a lot simplier to cut the circle out. Just take both clusters a part and trace the tach back plate to the speed tin cut it then use the rear plate of the tack.
I put the speed warning and the tach in my old cluster myself.

Re: Speed minder question
That stud has to be insulated through the tin. I would just send your speedwarning tin to 70shortfleet and have him cut the tach hole in it. He does nice work.

Re: Speed minder question
You should have the insulator from the tin. If I remember right it screws in with a nut. I maybe wrong that was well over 20 years ago when I built that cluster. But if not just get a gasket material are some other kind of insulator and it good to go.
