Depends on how much money you have. I ran a 402 in a 71 SWB Cheyenne 10 or 12 years ago. It was a low compresion stocker w/ crap heads and I slipped in a 425 horse 427 solid lifter cam, Torker intake, 780 holley, 1 7/8" headers w/ 400 turbo, 3500 stall w/ 4:11 posi. Had some M-T sportsmans on it. PS,PB, AC, 3950 lbs. Ran 14.25@ 93 mph through the mufflers. Pulled it and put in a 10 to1 454 (LS6 pistons), steel crank, truck rods, balanced and bored w/ deck plates, moly rings, big Crane solid lifter cam w/ roller rockers, oval port open chamber heads that were hogged out. Edelbrock C-396 intake w/ a 850 double pumper. Ran 12.59 @ 102 mph through the mufflers, with a 1.73 60 foot time. The rest of the combo was the same as before. I pulled it and put the motor in a stripped down 69 SWB and ran a terrible wheel spinning 12.25, coulda got it in the 11's easy if I had traction, my 60 foot time was 2 seconds flat, it sucked. This same motor ran 11.30's in my Chevelle later on with a better intake and heads. My Chevelle ran a best all time 10.56 @ 129 but with more motor and on gas, no NOS. Done with drag racing just cruising my stock but slammed 72 now days.

Sounds like on heck of a motor. Seems like you went through some good and bad times with it. Thanks for all the info
