Looking for a GM short water pump for a big block. Can be a rebuildable core.
I believe the last 3 digits of the part number are 284.

I have one, not sure of the casting number. I will check tomorrow. It leaks out the weep hole so it will need rebuilt.

Casting number is 3856284 and the date code is E 18 71. As I said before, it was removed because it leaks from the weep hole. Otherwise it is in good shape.

Here are the pics of the NOS water pump. Cast # is 3856284. GM parts book shows 68-70 396 and 71-72 400. I think the date code is A 11 9 as the original box part # was 3957982 with first superseded part # 3990993 that includes the 71-72 model runs. $150 plus shipping. LMK. send your zip code for quote.
