1972 SWB Drive Shaft Length.

Hi all, I am sure this has been discussed many times. I have a 1972 SWB with a 400 sbc and turbo 350 (short tail shaft) I have a 2 pc drive shaft to go in it. But a friend knows of 1 piece driveshaft the owner sears came out of a 1972 6cyl 3 speed. Was wondering if anyone might know what the length should be on a drive shaft, center to center of the ujoints?

Thanks
Eddie

Re: 1972 SWB Drive Shaft Length.

in this case cit is far better for you to get under the truck and measure what you need to get the right measurement

Which frame holes are your engine stands bolted to, front or rear?

Re: 1972 SWB Drive Shaft Length.

I had to have my drive shaft lengthened by 4 inches when I did my 6 cylinder to 350 swap, but I kept my 3 speed manual transmission. This is using the forward mounting holes for the v8.

Re: 1972 SWB Drive Shaft Length.

You really should measure. Mine is 350 on front mounts/700r4/ 55 9/16 shaft. All I had was the trans yoke and it cost me 230 out the door for new one.
