Door glass question
I'm looking to replace the door glass in my 72 Jimmy. I cannot find any supplier specificlly selling k5 glass. This is probably a dumb question.... is truck windows the same as blazer/jimmy door glass??
Thanks for the help, Eric |

Re: Door glass question
Curious to know how you make out. Both my door glasses were changed by PO and now both lack about a 1/2" of going all the way up and I can't see how to correct this.

There might be some adhesive or similar where the glass attaches to the regulator that is prohibiting full travel. I have this sometimes on my blazer, once the bottom of the window reaches the door seals I have to give it an extra bit of effort to get it up all the way.

Re: Door glass question
69-72 I've had the doors apart. Couldn't see anything wrong or any way to adjust. My Jimmy is 71 but has the door stiffening screws by the vent window, so I'm assuming the doors are 72.

Re: Door glass question
I had the same problem as 4oldcars. Aftermarket was actually shorter than OEM. (I layed one over the other to compare) I ended up getting NOS glass from Wes at Classic Heartbeat. The alternative might be to have custom flat glass cut to match original pieces.

Re: Door glass question
71's have the vent window screw also just plastic and the hole is just a hole. The 72 doors the hole is countersunk or tapered whatever you want to call it.

Re: Door glass question
I have a couple sets of door glass I've saved over the years. If you wanted to go with some OEM stuff instead of aftermarket. I'm local to you too....over in Auburn. If your interested shoot me a message.

Re: Door glass question
I'll have to look to see if I have any tinted or if they are all clear sets. Have 3 sets of side glass and an extra set of truck doors I'm saving incase I need to cut down a pair for my Jimmy.

Re: Door glass question
toomany - - I don't think my glass is aftermarket. I could be wrong. Glass/channel/mechanism/etc all appear original.

I have one set of tinted glass. You'd have to check them out to see if they were up to your standards. The sash on both of them have some rust, but are solid. The glass looks to be scratch free, it's real dusty from sitting on the loft in the barn...once it gets washed it'll probably clean up fine. |
