Unhappy Re: Anyone just buy a speed warning on eBay?

I wished I had never sold mine! I kept it for a few years after taking it out of the truck. Then I sold it for a good price at the time. Over $600.00.

I'd wished now I never had sold it. Oh well life goes on.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Anyone just buy a speed warning on eBay?

A couple of years ago I got a new Audi S8, V10, 450hp. And my wife started driving it more and more... but then she asked me why it made that horrible noise on the freeway sometimes.

After some investigation it turned out to be the speed warning was set at 85mph!

Re: Anyone just buy a speed warning on eBay?

I bought an NOS speed warning speedometer at a swap meet in Vegas a number of years ago for $50 It's been in a truck I have for probably 12 years but only shows 250 ish miles on it. Its crazy what some of this stuff brings.

Re: Anyone just buy a speed warning on eBay?

I spent almost that much on a set of Dakota gauges. If that's what someone wants to complete a factory restoration, it was a necessary evil to get it.

Ironically, the speed warning is making a comeback with all the modern digital gauge stuff. My 2015 Silverado has it. When you turn it on it pops up on the dash with "Speed Limit Exceeded" and a chime. After playing with it a few times I turned it back off.

Re: Anyone just buy a speed warning on eBay?

My trucks all have a speed warning built in from the factory
Fan belt.
With the perfect tension Being not enough or worn out!
It will squeal at the rpm it has been set at
Depending on my particular gearing in that truck
Anywhere from 55-65 mph
Usually

Ya.. not worth 900 bones to me either..

Today to keep up with speed traps and driving on roads you are not normally on , to miss a speed limit sign..
They have an APP for that.. that will display the part of road you are on speed limit.. Comes in handy when out of state and a trooper will pop you for 3mph over when they see the out of state plates..

Re: Anyone just buy a speed warning on eBay?

I dont need one because I drive the speed limit.....most of the time......ok 30 to 40 % of the time. Most of the tickets I get are 40 in a 30. I just cannot drive 30.

Re: Anyone just buy a speed warning on eBay?

Well by definition that's how an auction works - it was only worth that price to ONE person, the winner. It was worth whatever the second highest bid was to two people.

When everyone in the world EXCEPT one person DIDN'T buy it, I don't get the appeal of lining up to say "I wouldn't pay that". We know - because you didn't. That's why the other guy won.

Like I always say, if you think it's crazy what people are paying, sell yours for less. I don't get many takers.

Re: Anyone just buy a speed warning on eBay?

Yes it is. The little black knob moves the white needle and the buzzer goes off when that speed is hit.

Well if that is the purpose.
I don't care if it's a dollar or a thousand it would be useless to me. I really dislike that type of stuff in my rides.
BUT I am always surprised to see what options these trucks had available.

Re: Anyone just buy a speed warning on eBay?

I sold that speedo a number of years ago on EBay for around $650. It later showed up on eBay and sold for over $1,000. I know it is the same one because it had a shelf wear spot on the needle and the duct tape on the box. It sat at $620 until 3 seconds left when I bid and the proxy bid won.

It was fun.

It's funny because my first C10 was a 1969 that I paid $75 for. Now you've got a truck that has a speedometer worth several times more than my entire truck was!
