292 main crank add on pulley

Does anyone have a source or a vendor where I can purchase a single grove add on to my main pulley?

How many grooves do you need? GM made a 3-groove, p/n: 10141202, that was standard for 292 L6s in HD applications.

Re: 292 main crank add on pulley

Adding one to the front has the advantage of retaining the outer ring of the harmonic balancer when it goes bad. Putting a white paint mark on the timing notch and extending it out onto the new, outside pulley will let you know when the HB has begun to slip.

I did a quick internet search, as I'm sure you did and couldn't find one that said it would specifically fit the inline chevy six.

Find an old wrecking yard that still has 70-80s cars. Buick, Pontiac, Olds, Nova used the inline 250 up to the mid 70s and the Camaro up till 79. Many of those had PS, AC and smog pumps and used an add-on pulley. That's where I found mine.

Re: 292 main crank add on pulley

If you get one from a wrecking yard, you can also get the water pump pulley that matches
.
The first picture shows my 3rd HB. The first two dropped the HB outer ring on the road while driving. it also shows the water pump pulley that I picked up at the same time. You just have to be mindful of the HB groove spacing compared to yours. May want to take the HB as well, if it looks good.

A couple of years later when I added the AC, all the pulleys were ready to go.

The Truck and Car Shop in Orange, CA has them for BBC and SBC. Might fit.
